This workshop will introduce you into the traditional Japanese technique of making decorative wooden lamps. We will use simple and effective ways of assembling wood without the necessity of nails or glues (though the later can be used for reinforcement). After building a basic structure, each participant will be challenge to decorate the different sides of the lamp with Kumiko designs which later are covered with japanese paper. The workshop costs 400 Swiss Francs per person. We can hold a maximum of 4 people for workshop. The duration of the workshop is 2 days. Day 1. From 9 am to 12 pm. From 13 pm to 19 pm Day 2. From 9 am to 12 pm From 13 pm to 18 pm. The workshop includes the use of material and tools to build your own Japanese Lamp (1 lamp per person). The workshop does not include food or accommodation. You are allowed to bring some food or drinks (alcohol is not allowed during the workshop). The workshop will take place in our main facility, a beautiful old wooden stable in the middle of Engelberg, which lacks of heating and water. The closest free-use WC is 2 minutes away, near the GemeindeHaus.
